Overview
The future belongs to CMAs (Certified Management Accountants). Nowadays, because of new regulations in the corporate sector, if you intend to become a CFO, Head of Internal Audit, Company Secretary or other similar executive positions, experience or an academic degree is not sufficient. Instead, you will need to be a member of an international professional body. Qualifying as a CMA will make you eligible for these statutory positions.
CMAs have the edge over other professionals in areas like decision-making, planning, forecasting, risk management, cost and internal control, investment decisions, corporate finance and performance management.
CMAs belongs to IMA (Institute of Management Accountants) which is a global body of accounting and finance professionals, founded in 1919 in the USA. It is one of the largest and most respected professional associations focusing on the advancement and promotion of management accounting and the finance profession. With members in more than 140 countries, it has over 100,000 members worldwide.
CMA is your international passport, recognised and valued all of the world. It is currently one of the hottest professional qualification in the Middle East since it can be completed in eight months (although the average is 1½ years), and costs less than most other professional qualifications making it excellent value for your time and money.
CMAs are actively working in a wide range of senior management positions around the world in companies like IBM, Microsoft, Johnson & Johnson, Deloite, Walmart, Mercedes, and many others.

Program Details
Duration:
Minimum time to complete both parts is eight months but average time to complete is 1½ years.
Maximum Duration:
Once a candidate enters the CMA programme, he or she must complete within three years.
Exam Dates:
Exams are held in Jan/Feb, May/June & Sept/Oct.
Exams:
There are two online closed book exams and each exam is of four hours. Exams are conducted by the Prometric Testing Centre in Al Mawaleh.
Eligibility:
The normal entry requirement for the CMA programme is an appropriate Bachelor's degree. However, under certain circumstances, those without a degree can be admitted. Full details can be obtained from Majan College.

Majan College is an Access Partner with Advance HE, the UK-based umbrella organization that includes the Higher Education Academy (HEA). HEA is the body that for the last twenty years has promoted excellence in learning and teaching practices in universities in Britain, and has in recent times extended its activities worldwide.
The College signed an agreement with HEA in September 2017 – see press report here
Since then, almost twenty Majan lecturers have submitted applications to become Associate Fellows, Fellows or Senior Fellows of the HEA, with twelve additional applications expected in July 2020. Successful applications involve lecturers in reflecting on their professional practices as teachers and, where relevant, as managers, course/programme designers, and mentors. Their written accounts, supported by appropriate references to scholarly and professional literature, are examined by independent and anonymous assessors in the UK. The College can boast of a very high success rate in its applications, and the process of applying helps lecturers to become more consciously aware of what they do and why they do it, as well as helping them to see more clearly how they can continue to grow and improve. HEA celebrated the award of its 100,000th fellowship in 2018, and the fellowships programme is gaining ground internationally. For instance, significant numbers of lecturers at the University of Tasmania (Australia) and Massey University (New Zealand) are now HEA Fellows. In our own region, the University of Bahrain now has more than one hundred academics with HEA fellowship status. Hence, holding an HEA fellowship certificate, in whatever category, is increasingly recognized as being valuable to academic staff in their future careers.

ACCA Diploma in International Financial Reporting
Overview
If you are a finance professional who is not already knowledgeable about the details of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), this qualification has a fast and efficient solution to meet your needs. If you need to develop a working knowledge of the area, the DipIFR can help prepare you.
Course objectives
The course is designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards. You will also learn how to apply them, as well as the concepts and principles which underpin them.
- On completion of the Diploma candidates should be able to:
- understand, explain and apply the IASB's Conceptual Framework for Financial Reporting
- apply relevant financial reporting standards to key elements of financial reports
- identify and apply disclosure requirements for companies in financial reports and notes
- prepare group financial statements (excluding group cash-flow statements) including subsidiaries, associates and joint arrangements.
Who is it for?
If you are a professional accountant or auditor who works in practice or business, and are qualified according to national accounting standards, then you are eligible to take this ACCA financial reporting qualification.
If you are working in practice, but not yet qualified, then you may still be eligible. You will need to prove that you have ANY ONE of the following:
- Two years' relevant accounting experience and a relevant degree like Bachelors in accounting (attracting at least ACCA qualification exemptions F1-F4)
- Two years‘ relevant accounting experience and an ACCA Certificate in International Financial Reporting
- Three years' relevant accounting experience
- ACCA affiliate status

- First formal qualification in the sultanate which comprehensively covers all IFRSs.
