Faculty of Information Technology (3)
The Faculty of Information Technology (IT), an integral academic unit of Majan College (University College), is committed towards providing a host of state-of-the-art academic programs in support of the local, regional, and global IT community. These programmes are strategically studied and updated to enable graduates to adapt to the dynamic nature of the IT industry.
The programmes offered in the faculty are current and innovative and designed to develop students’ cognitive and transferable skills besides subject knowledge. These programmes are:
- BSc (Hons) in Computer and Internet Applications
- BSc (Hons) in Networking
Students are required to pass 8 modules totalling 120 credits in each year (level). In the final year students must also register for the project (dissertation) accounts for 30 credits (equivalent to a double module). In total students must satisfactorily complete 360 credits (24 modules) with a combination of core and specialisation modules to be eligible for the award of the BA (Hons).

Programme overview
This programme will equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills for the existing and emerging challenges that a career in computing and internet technology will entail. In addition it prepares graduates to show a high quality of independent thought, flexibility and maturity based on a sound technical knowledge of the field.

Programme overview
This degree programme will equip graduates with the necessary knowledge and technical skills needed to design, create, operate and maintain network infrastructure for modern distributed enterprise computer systems. It will also strengthen their awareness of networking security threats and they will be able to implement networking related configurations.

He holds a Ph.D, an MTech, and BTech in Computer Science and Systems Engineering. His early career, in the industry at SIEMENS and Infosys as a software engineer, includes the development of real-time solutions and work as a consultant for ERP. Since 2005, Dr. Syed has been working in academia, and he is highly recognized for excellent practices in teaching, research, leadership, and staff development. He is a Certified External Reviewer for accreditation bodies and is trained in Intellectual Property Rights. Dr Syed is a member of many professional bodies worldwide. His current research interests are in the areas of Computer Science and Internationalization of Higher Education. |

Ramalingam has been an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Information Technology since 2010. During his career he has achieved various professional certifications such as CCNA; CCNP; COMPTIA A+; COMPTIA Network+; Microsoft Certified Professional; EC-Council CHFI; and EC-Council Cyber Security instructor. He is the College’s Research Focal Point with Oman’s Research Council. His primary research interest is in information security and he has presented his work at various reputable international conferences. In 2019 he completed a postdoctoral research project in association with the University of Bradford, UK. His teaching currently covers areas such as Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Virtualization, SCADA systems and Advanced Digital Forensics. He is also a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. |

He has 20+ years of academic and industrial experience in India, South Korea and Oman with 10+ years in teaching different IT subjects in reputed colleges to diploma and undergraduate students from various universities. He has coordinated and developed many real-time large scale applications in IT companies using both Microsoft and Java platforms with latest technologies on several domains. He has a Masters in Computer Applications and a BSc in Computer Science from India. He has postgraduate diploma certifications in Visual Basic with Oracle and Web Application Development to his credit, and he became a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy in 2020. |

He has been in Majan College since 2013. He became a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy in September 2018. He has completed his MS in Information Security from NUST (Islamabad, Pakistan) and was awarded the President's Gold Medal for holding first position. He has completed his Bachelors in Computer Science with distinction. Before joining Majan College he served as a lecturer in various renowned universities in Pakistan including NUST and FAST-NUCES. He is a Certified Ethical Hacker by EC Council. His areas of interest include Cyber Security, Ethical Hacking, Digital Forensics, Cryptography, Cloud Computing and Computer Networks. |

She became a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in 2020. Her research is in the programming and software engineering areas. She is a senior Fellow of the UK higher education academy since 2019. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students. She completed her PhD in Computer Science, in the area of Remote Sensing by marking use of Hyperspectral Imaging capabilities. She believes in lifelong learning hence has completed many certifications in the latest technologies. She has served as Journal and Conference reviewer and Session Chair Her primary research interest is centred on Data Analytics and Image Processing in particular Hyperspectral Image Processing. She has presented several articles in various reputed international conferences and Journals. Her recent research in the area of Hyperspectral Imaging has been funded by TRC, Oman. |

Dr. Mohammed Waleed is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA); serves as chair of the Faculty Research Committee; and is Coordinator of Technology Projects in the Faculty. Prior to joining Majan he worked in academic institutions in countries such as the UAE, Malaysia, and Palestine. Dr. Mohammed Waleed has presented numerous papers at international conferences and published research articles in a range of prestigious journals on topics within the fields of Applied Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT). |

With more than 11 years of professional teaching and research experience at his credit, he joined the Faculty of Information Technology, Majan University College as Assistant Professor in 2022. His teaching and research areas include Communication Systems and Networks as well as Smart and Autonomous Systems. Dr. Sohail has published 29 articles in reputed journals and conference proceedings, mostly published by IEEE, Wiley, Elsevier/ScienceDirect and MDPI.
