MUC hosts 25th Graduation Ceremony on campus

Majan University College, with 26 successful years in Higher Education to its credit, today graduated its 25th batch of graduands.  This year over 880 graduands of the 2019-2020 academic year were conferred their awards. The ceremony, held over a span of two days with two ceremonies each day, was conducted in strict compliance with Covid 19 measures. The ceremony was held in the state-of-the-art auditorium in Al-Maha Building, Majan’s newest edifice. The procession of Majan’s Academic staff, beautifully clad in their academic gowns, saw the start of the occasion closely followed by the recitation of the Holy Quran by Issa Salim Al Rashdi.

The Dean  & CEO of Majan University College, Dr Maha Kobeil delivered her welcome address by first appreciating the vision of the late HM Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, and looking to the future under the new leadership of HM Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Bin Taimur Al-Said. She felicitated the graduands and applauded their steadfastness and courage in facing head on the challenges of the preceding year when their studies were plagued with the Covid 19 pandemic.  She urged them to remain resilient, adaptable and open to learning and most importantly embrace change. She also appreciated the relentless efforts and sacrifices made by parents and families in supporting their wards. Acknowledgements and appreciation were also rendered for the support of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and Majan’s main academic partner institution, the University of Bedfordshire, UK.

Similarly, via video telecast, Professor Rebecca Bunting, Vice Chancellor and CEO of the University of Bedfordshire, UK commended the graduands for their zeal, hardwork and dedication in spite of all odds. She called on them to be bold, ambitious for themselves as well as to be changemakers, making positive contributions to the Nation. She also called on them to extend gratitude to their families and to the excellent support staff at Majan.

Furthermore, to the Dean and staff of Majan, Dr Bunting expressed her great respect and trust in the Majan Team, referring to the decades old partnership.. as still striving with new projects for collaboration and growth. The graduation Speech in Arabic was read eloquently by Naama Yaqoob Al Qarni, reminiscing of students’ times in Majan. The English Speech on the other hand was rendered by Abdulsalam Mabrook Al Rashdi.

Majan continues on its path to achieving its mission and vision with the periodic review of its systems and processes, and continued dedication to the release of new innovations, programmes and pathways. The most recent development  is the Memorandum of Understanding signed by Majan in 2020 with the University of Bradford, UK for academic collaboration, research, curriculum development and staff exchange towards an executive Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme.

For the elated Graduates,  the just concluded ceremonies were  filled with joy, laughter and lots of selfies..,
