Graduation Ceremony 2019

On Monday 25th November 2019, Majan University College’s 24th annual graduation ceremony took place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, Al Irfan, Airport Heights. The chief guest at the graduation ceremony was H.E. Issa Mohammed Al Azri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice. The ceremony was attended by H.E. Sheikh Rashad bin Ahmed Al Hinai, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Dr. Ali Al Shamali, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr.Rashid Amer Mohamed Al Musalhi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors; Dr. Maha Kobeil, Dean of the College, and Mr. Bill Rammell, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire. Representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education, those from other higher education institutions and many parents and other family members of the proud and happy graduates also attended. Following a procession of the academic staff of the College, the ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Quran. This was followed by a speech by Dr Maha Kobeil who spoke about the College’s proud history as the Sultanate’s first private sector college and the first higher education institution to receive academic accreditation from Oman Academic Accreditation Authority. Dr Maha also mentioned the College’s new programmes, and she closed by urging the graduands to maintain always high ethical standards, to take care of those less fortunate than themselves and to dedicate themselves to lifelong learning. Mr Bill Rammell began his address by congratulating the graduands and remembering the contribution of family, friends and Majan staff to their success. He also talked about the values shared by Majan University College and the University of Bedfordshire, such as celebrating cultural diversity, fostering knowledge creation, building sustainable skills and encouraging lifelong learning. During the graduation ceremony itself, more than one thousand graduates received their certificates from Mr Rammell amid congratulations from the audience and all those on stage. In total there more than six hundred students received graduate certificates and almost four hundred passed at postgraduate level. At the conclusion of the ceremony groups of graduates posed for photographs in a celebratory atmosphere. The occasion was a happy and successful one, enhanced by the excellent facilities provided by the Madinat Al Irfan Theatre at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
