General Foundation Programme


About the Programme


The mission of the General Foundation Programme is to provide an educationally dynamic and supportive environment to enable students to attain the English language, IT, Maths and study skills required to successfully engage in undergraduate studies. In addition, we seek to instil in students a sense of collaboration, integrity, community responsibility and commitment to achieving their full potential.

Admission Criteria

Undergraduate Programmes

A prospective student can enrol on an undergraduate programme through various entry modes such as:

  1. having qualified with the GFP from MUC or other universities or colleges in Oman.
  2. through exemption testing, where students coming to Majan University College take Undergraduate Entry Tests (UG Test).
  3. through a valid IELTS score of Band 5 or above; or
  4. through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) a process through which certificated learning at other HEIs is assessed through the College’s approved RPL procedures.

Direct Entry

Prospective students can register directly on the undergraduate programme if they have successfully completed the College’s General Foundation Programme (GFP) or passed the undergraduate entry tests (English, Maths, and IT). Those who have an IELTS (Academic) score of Band 5 are still required to take and pass the Entry Tests for Maths and IT.

Entry through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

The College has well-developed procedures through which recognition of prior learning (RPL) is assessed. MUC accepts students who studied in other colleges/ universities, either in Oman or abroad, provided that these institutions are approved by the MoHERI. Modules studied at other institutions are assessed according to the level, content and credits acquired and then mapped against modules offered at MUC.

Programme Structure



Students must satisfactorily complete 10 modules to be eligible for the award of the Foundation Certificate.

About the Programme


Today’s business is driven by data and data science. The influence of technology in all verticals of the business namely Human resources, sales, finance, manufacturing, and marketing has created a volume of data based on which decisions have to be evolved. Hence developing business analytics skills to infer and predict data becomes imperative in today’s context.

Programme Structure



Students are required to pass 8 modules totalling 120 credits in each year (level). In total students must satisfactorily complete 480 credits (32 modules) with a combination of core and specialisation modules to be eligible for the award of the Dip/BSc (Hons) Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence.

BA (Hons) Business Administration – Tourism and Event Management Pathway


About the Programme


The BA (Hons) Business Administration with Tourism include modules aimed at providing students with the fundamentals of business management including accountancy, computing and marketing and is augmented by specialist travel and tourism modules. Research methods and skills, market segmentation, strategic planning, advertising, sales, promotions, pricing, and distribution will be explored in depth. Graduates will be prepared for a career in business management with an emphasis on the relevant skills and knowledge pertaining to the tourism sector.

BA (Hons) in Business Administration - Transport Operations Management Pathway


About the Programme


Transport Operations Management is a new BA Business Administration pathway designed to equip students with knowledge and skills relevant to the operation of shipping and road transport systems and associated supply chains. Students who follow this pathway will gain a good grounding in logistics and inventory management tasks, preparing them for careers in ports, logistics and land transport management. Diploma and degree programmes covering these areas are unusual in Oman, so students choosing this pathway may well find employment successfully after graduation.

BA (Hons) Business Administration – Entrepreneurship Pathway


About the Programme


The importance of entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Enterprises have been widely accepted as vital for economic growth and employment generation. The role of higher education in the creation of graduate entrepreneurs is significant. Hence there is need for designing deliberate educational strategy to encourage entrepreneurship among students in particular and society in general. Entrepreneurs have a set of personal skills, attributes and behaviour that go beyond the purely commercial. The BA (Hons) in Business Administration with Entrepreneurship pathway develops the skills that are necessary to meet the demands for setting up and managing own businesses. The programme provides the business management core that includes an extensive background in the functional areas of marketing, accounting, and management; an understanding of the business environment to include the legal, economic, behavioural and human aspects; technical skills in information systems, mathematics and quantitative analysis; and the ability to communicate, integrate and synthesise. As a graduate you will be able to integrate the theory and practice which will enable you to communicate effectively, understand the internal and external environments of business, appreciate the legal, ethical, strategic and behavioural contexts of business decisions, and understand the financial and economic dynamics which constitute the context for business activity. You will be also equipped with the skills, knowledge and methods that are needed to launch a new enterprise, take over an existing business, or be a dynamic manager who can make a dramatic difference in the future of a small business.
