IMA's Certification for Accountants and Financial Professionals in Business (CMA)
Overview
The future belongs to CMAs (Certified Management Accountants). Nowadays, because of new regulations in the corporate sector, if you intend to become a CFO, Head of Internal Audit, Company Secretary or other similar executive positions, experience or an academic degree is not sufficient. Instead, you will need to be a member of an international professional body. Qualifying as a CMA will make you eligible for these statutory positions.
CMAs have the edge over other professionals in areas like decision-making, planning, forecasting, risk management, cost and internal control, investment decisions, corporate finance and performance management.
CMAs belongs to IMA (Institute of Management Accountants) which is a global body of accounting and finance professionals, founded in 1919 in the USA. It is one of the largest and most respected professional associations focusing on the advancement and promotion of management accounting and the finance profession. With members in more than 140 countries, it has over 100,000 members worldwide.
CMA is your international passport, recognised and valued all of the world. It is currently one of the hottest professional qualification in the Middle East since it can be completed in eight months (although the average is 1½ years), and costs less than most other professional qualifications making it excellent value for your time and money.
CMAs are actively working in a wide range of senior management positions around the world in companies like IBM, Microsoft, Johnson & Johnson, Deloite, Walmart, Mercedes, and many others.
Registration begins in November and December for January sessions and in May and June for August sessions.
The Value of the CMA
According to IMA’s 2018 US Salary Survey, CMAs earn 47% more than professionals without the CPA or CMA. Becoming a CMA at the age of 22, for example, could mean an additional $500,000 in lifetime earnings. More importantly, the CMA provides a gateway to a successful business career, and allows you to tap into an international network of over 100,000 professionals. As CMAs themselves will testify, investing in this certification pays a lifetime of dividends, allowing you to rise above your competitors. I completed my CMA certification at Majan University College (MUC), where I began my studies during the second year of my undergraduate programme. Throughout my CMA studies concepts were explained to me in a straightforward and understandable way. I was advised to spend adequate time on independent study in order to pass the final exam, and this stood me in good stead. I want to end by saying that the lecturers at MUC are very experienced and supportive and I would advise anyone who wants to pursue CMA to choose Majan.
I am happy to say that I completed my CMA journey, thanks to MUC's amazing teaching staf. For me, it was a considerable challenge, because I began CMA study after a long gap in my education. Fortunately, Majan provided me with all the resources required, and inspired me to fulfil my potential. Special thanks to the CMA team at MUC whose immense support and effective teaching methods made a huge impact in assisting me to progress in my studies. I would definitely recommend anyone who wants to pursue CMA to choose MUC. With each passing day, I could feel the personal growth I have had. There is no question that change is hard and uncomfortable. However, when you commit to it, the results are worth the effort. Through my transformational MBA at Majan University College, I have become more self-aware and resilient. These are not just professional skills they are life skills.
My learning journey was an enlightening but also challenging experience. I managed to arrive at my destination thanks to a good deal of perseverance, but also because I was tutored by MUC's senior and well experienced CMA lecturers. Based on my experience, I would absolutely endorse the CMA professional course offered by MUC, and I recommend students to enrol in it, whether they are still students on a bachelor's programme or have already started working.
After enrolling on the CMA course at MUC, I began to have second thoughts because I was a working student. However, everything turned out well, thanks to the College which was very supportive and motivated me throughout my studies. Thanks to the guidance from a certified and talented CMA staff member at MUC, I was able to pass Part 1 at the first attempt. Joining Majan is definitely a good decision!
