Dr. Maha Kobeil
The Dean & CEO
Dr Maha received her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Manchester; an MA in Applied Linguistics (Discourse Studies in Language Teaching and Learning) from the University of Liverpool; and a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the University of Manchester. She has extensive experience in the areas of applied linguistics, teaching English language and learning styles. For more than fifteen years, Dr. Maha has been involved in quality assurance, academic standards and accreditation activities. Her research interests are in the areas of reading comprehension, information processing, critical thinking skills, action research and student learning styles.

Ms. Nabila Al Macki
Deputy Dean (Academic Affairs)
Nabila Al Macki is a passionate leader about learning and education, who enjoys working with dynamic and diverse teams in high performance higher education institutions. Nabila earned her MBA (Financial Management) from the University of Hull, UK. In 2018 she became a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). She has a rich teaching experience, particularly in the areas of Finance, Accounting, Human Resource Management, and Leadership, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In addition to teaching, she has also supervised undergraduate projects at Majan College.
In academia, Nabila has extensive experience in the area of programme review and skill-based curriculum development in line with national and international standards. Ms. Nabila has acquired extensive knowledge of UK quality assurance procedures and of higher education systems and standards in Oman. Ms Nabila is an external reviewer of the Ministry of Education, and Oman Authority for Quality Assurance of Education.

Dr. Ammar Al-Balushi
Deputy Dean for Postgraduate Studies, Enterprise and Innovation
Dr Ammar Al Balushi is the Deputy Dean for Postgraduate Studies, Enterprise and Innovation at Majan University College. Before joining higher education, he led and transformed several leading hotels in Oman, gaining deep insights into strategy, service excellence, and tourism development.
He holds a PhD in Marketing and Tourism Development from Glasgow Caledonian University – London Campus, a Master’s in International Management from the University of Strathclyde, and a BSc (Hons) in Computer Engineering. Prior to joining Majan University College, he taught and led modules in management, marketing, and strategy at the University of Essex and Glasgow Caledonian University in the United Kingdom.
At Majan, Dr Ammar has been instrumental in developing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. His research and practice focus on strategic management, marketing, sustainable tourism, innovation, and emerging technologies—advancing institutional growth in line with Oman Vision 2040.

Dr. Susan Trevor-Roper
Associate Dean – Planning and Risk Management
Susan holds a PhD in Educational Research (Lancaster University, UK), a Master’s Degree (with Distinction) in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (University of Reading, UK) and a BSc (Hons) Biochemistry (Imperial College London, UK). She has extensive experience in internal and external quality assurance, transnational higher education and teaching in higher education. Prior to joining Majan, Susan worked as a Senior Quality Assurance Expert at the Oman Authority for Quality Assurance of Education, during which time she played a key role in the development of the authority’s institutional accreditation standards, criteria and processes, contributed to its research and undertook the role of Review Director for over twenty institutional reviews. Susan’s research interest is in the area of internationalisation of higher education with specific focus on transnational higher education provided through local delivery partnerships and institutional support for international academic teachers.

Dr. Peter Mitchell
Head of Learning & Teaching
and Head of the Faculty of English Language Studies
Dr. Peter Mitchell’s service in higher education spans 20 years. Initially a British Council language assistant, he became associate professor and founded a department at a world-leading (QS 250) university in Russia. Peter holds a BA (Hons) with distinction in Liberal Arts (Durham University) and MSc with distinction in Teacher Education (University of Oxford). He earned his doctorate in education from the University of Derby and is a Fellow of the UK’s Royal Society of Arts and Chartered Institute of Linguists, and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). Peter has supervised doctoral theses internationally and taught over 70,000 learners worldwide in partnership with Coursera. He has consulted leaders of educational institutions in various countries and is an external reviewer for the Ministry of Education and Oman Authority for Quality Assurance of Education. Peter’s research focuses on teacher education and institutional development.

Dr. Jacintha Menezes
Head of the Faculty of Information Technology
Dr. Jacintha Menezes has been involved in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology for almost 20 years. She holds a PhD in Computer Science in Remote Sensing marking use of Hyperspectral Imaging capabilities. She has been a Senior Fellow of the UK higher education academy since 2019. Dr. Menezes has been officially approved as External Reviewer by Oman Authority for Quality Assurance of Education since January 2025. She has led Ministry of Education-funded projects as principal and co-principal investigator. She has presented several articles in various reputed international conferences and Journals. Her primary research interest is centered on Data Analytics and Image Processing, in particular Hyperspectral Image Processing.

Mr. Sami Al Yousfi
Head of Administration & HR
Sami holds an MBA from the University of Bedfordshire, UK. He oversees the provision and smooth running of facilities in the College. He works closely with senior management and is involved in strategic planning for the College. He is also directly responsible for facilities in the hostels, the security of the College's premises and crisis management. He is a sports enthusiast and plays a very active role in the College's sport and co-curricular activities.

Mr. Karim El-Gamil
Head of IT Services Department
Karim ELGamil is a seasoned IT and cybersecurity leader with over 20 years of experience managing complex, diverse technology environments across higher education and industry. He combines deep technical expertise in ERP systems, cloud computing, storage solutions, server administration, cybersecurity, database management, and operating systems with a strong focus on governance, risk, and compliance.
Karim holds an MSc in Information Systems and multiple professional certifications, including CISSP, CEH, OCE, MCT, and SFHEA, reflecting his commitment to continuous development and excellence. He works closely with senior leadership at Majan University College to define and execute the institution’s IT and cybersecurity strategy, ensuring technology enables the College’s long-term academic and operational goals.
He is also a founding board member of the ISC2 Oman Chapter and an active member of ISACA – Oman Chapter, contributing to the advancement of the local cybersecurity and IT governance community. At the national level, Karim actively supports Oman’s research, education, and cybersecurity ecosystem through his involvement in the OMREN Task Force and related initiatives, collaborating with key stakeholders to enhance connectivity, resilience, and innovation across the sector.

Mr. Karim Essam
Deputy Chief of Finance, Governance & Investor Relations
Karim serves as the Deputy Chief of Finance, Governance & Investor Relations at MUC. In this role, he strategically oversees and manages the financial operations, governance protocols, and investor relations for MUC. He is responsible for maintaining financial stability, promoting sound governance practices, and effectively communicating the College's financial strategies to investors and stakeholders.
Karim is a seasoned finance and auditing professional with over 18 years of experience. He holds an MBA from the University of Bedfordshire and is a proud member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the UK. His extensive background has equipped him with a deep understanding of financial management, auditing, and strategic planning, allowing him to contribute effectively to MUC.
