Majan University College has been rated as the second most trusted brand in Oman’s higher education sector, trailing only behind the Sultanate's flagship university, SQU. The accolade, bestowed by this month’s issue of Oman Economic Review (OER), reflects Majan’s position as the longest established private sector college as well as its achievement in becoming the first higher education institution to receive institutional accreditation from the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority. Reflecting on the trust placed in the Majan brand, Dr. Maha Kobeil, the College’s Dean, said that this almost certainly arises because the College constantly strives for excellence while taking into account the views of students and making strong efforts to meet their needs. For example, in January, to celebrate its 25th anniversary, the College will be opening a new six-storey building with a 300-seater auditorium, student social areas, classrooms and a cafeteria. The building will also provide accommodation for Majan’s flourishing Postgraduate Centre and its four Master’s degree programmes: MBA, MA in International Human Resource Management, MSc in Computer Science, and the newly launched MA in Applied Linguistics. The OER survey also ranks Majan University College second in such areas as Omanis in top management and females in executive positions, reflecting the emphasis at Majan on Omanisation and on equality of opportunity for all.
