Blessan George, a final level ACCA student at Majan University College (MUC), finished first in the entire Middle East in ACCA’s newly-launched Strategic Business Leader (SBL) module. ACCA has revised the programme structure of the professional papers of the qualification, and this was examined for the first time in the September 2018 examination session. Majan College was the only college in Oman offering coaching for the updated ACCA qualification during this examination session and a 100% pass rate was achieved. Mr Kenneth Sam, senior lecturer and SBL module lead tutor at MUC, said that SBL is a very challenging and technical paper which not only requires an in-depth understanding of important business concepts and models but also the application of these to different scenarios. Students need to focus on the application of essential professional skills in order to gain high marks. Blessan joined MUC after completing his 12th grade studies at the Indian School Al Seeb, and is also the top scorer in Oman in the ACCA modules Financial Reporting (FR), Audit and Assurance (AA) and Financial Management (FM). Blessan will feature in a new, globally available ACCA video, sharing practical tips and learning strategies for success in this highly competitive examination. MUC is approved as a Gold Learning Provider for the ACCA qualification and offers the programme in both full-time and part-time mode. The College hopes to achieve Platinum status in the near future, given the high success rate of its students. Ikram Ul Haq, Director of the ACCA programme at MUC, said that while MUC students have frequently achieved top positions in ACCA exams in Oman, securing top place in the Middle East is truly a remarkable feat, and Majan’s ACCA team is proud of its star student.
